Providing as much information about the theme and location is important when organizing a destination wedding. Particularly when the location is different than the normal church and reception hall event. For example, if the wedding is being held outdoors, rocky terrain or sandy areas will make it difficult to walk in high heels or sling back sandals for the ladies.
Indeed it sounds very funny to discuss the guests’ footwear but the guests depend on the bride and groom when invited to unfamiliar areas. Not only do you want to ensure everyone’s safety and comfort, but also you do not want anyone feeling like he or she is overdressed. Packing the right footwear is crucial, as it may not be that easy to buy appropriate shoes at the location.

If you do not include the information regarding the location directly on the Save the Date Cards, it should be sent shortly later in mailed out information packets, email updates, website announcements or by telephone. Again, the key to providing details about the location is to send information out early enough that guests have enough time to do check their wardrobes and do the necessary shopping.
In addition to the terrain, guests should be informed of local temperatures and weather patterns during the time at the destination. This is especially true of weddings held in the snow belt or at cooler times of the year. The last thing anyone wants to worry about is whether he/she might break a heel or walk all day in soggy shoes.
